On this basis, we have simply calculated how the cost compares to a permanently employed software developer.
– an employed senior developer (backend) will cost you on average (in Germany) 6,000 EUR gross per month (slightly less in Austria, more in Switzerland)
– additionally, you will pay around 1,350 EUR in employer contributions
– in addition, there are costs for office, workplace, “entertainment”, etc. of about 300 EUR/month
– that is already 7,650 EUR -> at 160 hours per month -> 48 EUR/h net
– however, 30 days holiday + 10 days sick leave + 10 public holidays are deducted from this
– so it’s not 160 hours per month, but 127 hours
– this gives a realistic hourly rate of around 60 EUR/h net
Interesting, isn’t it? As mentioned above, we are not suggesting that you should only hire developers from us. No, we have found that neither permanent nor remote is the ideal solution. Instead, a combination of the two is the best solution for you. In terms of cost, flexibility and speed.
